your background? I started in 1996 with climbing and did my first canyoning tour in 1999.
In 2007 I made the guide license for canyoneering and started to explore new canyons in the Swiss alps one year later. Up to now I have done over 150 different canyons all over the world. On 32 of them I did the first descent and drilled and equipped the canyons for other canyoneers.
your favorite trick? I don’t have a big talent for doing tricks. Unfortunately I never did gymnastics which would have been perfect for the crazy tricks in canyoneering. I just do high jumps and crazy slides and the combination of those.
your favorite canyon? There are several first class canyons around. In terms of fun there are for sure Lodrino, Boggera and Turnigla, one of my favorite canyons. In terms of beauty I really like the “winter” canyons like Segnas, Gamchi, Gries, and Trümmelbach to mention just a few, or the great canyons in Zion NP, USA.
why do you like canyoning? Canyoning is for me one of the most exiting sports. The combination of jumping, sliding, rappeling, climbing and swimming offers a lot of possibilities and challenges. You can also see places which you can only reach by going down the canyon and you are in the real nature. The first descents are for me also very exiting as you don’t know what challenges you will face in the canyon and you also know that you are the first human being who has been at that place.
what’s your goal? My goal is to do as long and as much canyoning as possible and to explore some new canyons all around the world. But above all to have fun and stay safe in the canyon with my wife, buddies and clients.
